The 2019 Annual Dinner took place on Friday, 17th May with the evening beginning with Evensong at 6.30pm.  Pre-dinner drinks followed before the meal was served in the Treacy Hall.

The guest speaker was the York-based composer, Andrew Carter, who  celebrated his 80th birthday in 2019.  He proved himself to be an excellent after dinner speaker.  A number of years ago he composed the Wakefield Service, which was sung at Evensong.  John Holt, one of our founder members and a lay clerk until last year, also celebrated his 80th birthday in 2019.  His setting of the Preces and Responses wwas sung.  S.S.Wesley's "Blessed be the God and Father" was the anthem.

It was a very good evening!

2019 ANNUAL DINNER: Friday. 17th May

On Advent Sunday, Old Choristers and their partners met for a very enjoyable lunch before the Association’s AGM.

At the meeting, James Holt announced that he wished to stand down as treasurer, having held the position for over thirty years.  He has been an excellent treasurer.  His resignation means that for the first time since the Association was formed in 1966, a member of the Holt family will not be holding one of the officer positions.  His brother, John, served as secretary and chair at various times over the years and Arthur, father of John and James, was treasurer.  I am pleased to report, however, that a Holt still remains on the committee!  Andrew Revans has been appointed the Association's Treasurer.

Among others at the event was Martin Rhodes, who had driven from the Lake District to be with us.  It was good to meet him.  He enjoyed the occasion and we hope to see him again at future events.
